Breakwater drops option on Lenora turf

Disappointing results from the Greater Lenora Resources (TSE) claims just north of the Estrades mine site at Joutel, Que., have prompted Breakwater Resources (TSE) to drop its option on the property. Breakwater could have earned a 51% stake in the 61-claim property by spending $2 million on exploration by the end of 1994 and making a $150,000 cash payment. But after completing 23 km of geophysics and four diamond drill holes on the property, Breakwater has found no trace of the Estrades-like orebody it was seeking.

Breakwater is preparing for late summer production at the Estrades project, 200 ft. to the south, where reserves total about one million tons grading 10.7% zinc, 0.93% lead, 0.94% copper and 0.16 oz. gold per ton. Both properties lie within the Casa Berardi fault zone, and previous drilling on the Lenora claims intersected low-grade gold values over narrow widths.
