Assay results were released by Tenajon Resources (VSE) from a 13-hole surface drill program completed by Westmin Resources (TSE) on the Kansas and West Kansas zones at the SB property near Stewart, B.C. Westmin is earning a 50% interest in the property from Tenajon, which is to be notified in mid-March of Westmin’s decision to place the SB property into production. The senior company is currently completing a feasibility study on the more advanced 35 zone where underground drilling completed earlier this year returned positive results (T.N.M., Jan. 14/91).
As operator, Westmin has already submitted a prospectus for the SB project to the Northwest Mine Development Review Committee for permitting. The SB property can be reached by road and is near Westmin’s 60% owned Premier gold mine. If a positive production is made, SB reserves would be processed at Westmin’s 2,200-ton-per-day mill.
The better uncut results from the recent 6,000-ft. surface drill program on the Kansas and West Kansas zones include: 25.3 ft. of 0.28 oz. gold per ton; 15.1 ft. of 0.20 oz.; 10.2 ft. of 0.43 oz.; 29.9 ft. of 0.29 oz.; 24.9 ft. of 0.21 oz.; and 15.4 ft. grading 1.05 oz.
The two zones are still open, both along strike and at depth, and Tenajon said more drilling will be required to fully evaluate their potential.
On its own, Tenajon is planning a 1991 exploration program on its Ashwood property located 12 miles southwest of the LAC/Bond Gold Red Mountain property in northwestern British Columbia.
The company carried out a limited and preliminary prospecting program last fall which identified six mineralized zones. The N zone, where mineralization is reported to occur in both a quartz vein system and in semi-massive to massive sulphide lenses, is currently considered the most promising.
Samples from quartz-veined boulders assayed up to 0.34 oz. gold, while grab samples of the massive sulphide showings assayed up to 0.04 oz. gold, 6.71 oz. silver, 16.5% zinc and 2.97% lead.
