Mine reclamation

L.R. Hossner’s Reclamation of Surface-Mined Lands, a 2-volume set, provides information on restoring surface-mined lands to a productive and aesthetically acceptable form. It addresses the primary problems associated with the reclamation of surface-mined lands in relation to water quality and chemical and physical properties of topsoil and overburden. Chemical problems include salinity, infertility, toxic substances and acidity. Physical problems are associated with consolidated materials, compaction and materials that have excessively sandy or clayey texture.
