A 4-day symposium is planned by the New Brunswick Prospectors and Developers Association (NBPDA) and the Department of Natural Resources and Energy (DNRE), June 10-13. The symposium combines field trips to the major base metals deposits in the Bathurst camp with technical presentations and a rock room.
The NBPDA will begin with a Sunday morning field trip to Noranda’s Half Mile Lake property, Stratabound’s Captain North property and Brunswick’s Stratmat North property.
Two geologists from the Geological Survey of Canada, Wayne Goodfellow and Cees van Staal, Scott Swinden of the Newfoundland Department of Mines, Jacques Trottier of Morisco Mining and several others will present technical papers on Monday.
Annual awards will be given at a banquet Monday evening. Minister of State for Mines, Edmond Blanchard, will be the keynote speaker.
Tuesday will feature more big field trips organized by (DNRE) to Brunswick’s No. 12 and Heath Steele mines, NovaGold’s Murray Brook mine, Stratabound’s Captain North property and Marshall Mineral’s Restigouche deposit.
That evening’s social event will be a lobster and fiddlehead dinner at the Bathurst Golf Club overlooking the harbor.
More field trips are planned for Wednesday.
