The Ministry of Northern Development and Mines will release a comprehensive overview of Ontario’s geology to coincide with the 1991 centennial of the Ontario government’s involvement in mining activity.
“This overview, entitled The Geology of Ontario, will consist of a set of specialized geoscience maps and a descriptive volume,” Mines Minister Hugh O’Neil said. “It will offer the geology of Ontario in one package for the first time.”
The text and maps, prepared by the Ontario Geological Survey, are designed for use by geologists in the exploration and mining industries, for governmental planning and for use in teaching geology at the university and secondary school levels.
