The 1550 has a conditioning circuit that automatically maintains hydraulic oil temperature between predetermined minimum and maximum values. In cold weather, the oil is heated up during the pre-operating start-up. This protects against component damage that can occur when oil viscosity is too high. Cooling is automatically provided when a predetermined high oil temperature is reached to minimize the risk of oil breakdown.
Maximum crowd force of the excavator is 827,300 N and breakout force is 818,400 N.
The machine is mounted on an electric mining shovel-type undercarriage.
Features include an extra-strong boom and arm; walk-in machinery house; electronic control signals for main valves and pumps; four 467-L- per-minute hydraulic pumps; a separate closed-loop swing circuit; two pistol-grip joystick hand levers with servo-electrical controls; excellent visibility and an extra-comfortable operator seat.
Maximum travel speed is 2.25 km per hour and maximum gradeability is 60%. Circle reply card No. b Open-pit Blasthole Drills
Atlas Copco has introduced a range of crawler-mounted hydraulic drills for open pits and quarries.
The rigs, called the ROC 722HC range of drills, have four different boom systems and a wide range of options. Boom options include: single boom; folding boom; extension boom or an extended folding boom.
Each rig is equipped with Copco’s COP 1238 hydraulic rock drill.
Other features include a fully mechanized rod handling system; an easy-to-reach operators panel; an air- cooled, turbo-charged Deutz diesel engi ne; on-board screw compressor and comfortable operators cab.
Hole sizes range from 48 mm to 102 mm. Circle reply card No. b Hammer Tools
A range of tools is available for Hy-Ram and X-Ram, boom-mounted hammers manufactured by Allied of Ohio.
The tools are made of a high- strength nickel/chrome/molybdenum/vanadium alloy steel.
To reduce the possibility of metal fatigue, each tool is shot-peened, a process which compresses the out surface of the tool. Each tool is secured with hardened retaining pins in the tool holder of the hammer and can be interchanged in minutes.
Tools include moil, offset wedge, blunt, bell, conical, crosscut chisel and in-line chisel. Circle reply card No. b Solids Flowmeter
An addition to flowmeter technology has been introduced by Milltronics of Peterborough, Ont.
The Millflo is a low-cost unit which can be installed in areas of restricted space, allowing mill operators to monitor the flow of solids more efficiently than before, the company says.
Operating in conjunction with a Milltronics integrator, the Millflo will monitor any free-flowing powder, or granular dry bulk solids material moving at full-scale flowrates from 450 kg to 20 tonnes per hour (based on density of 0.8 tonnes per cu m).
Accuracy is 1% and repeatability is 0.2%. Circle reply card No. b
