I have tried other publications, but most of these are promotional tools and not very objective. The Northern Miner is objective and is a great tool to investors like myself and is reasonably priced.
In your June 19, 1989, edition you carried an article that interested me about South American gold exploration. You mentioned several companies, but did not mention one which I am a stockholder in — Anchor Gold on the VSE.
I have enclosed a copy of the announcement of a joint venture agreement being signed concerning a Colombian gold-placer property. If I read this right the 182 million cu m would yield, at 0.476 g per cu m, 86,632,000 g of gold which (at 31.2 g = one troy ounce) would be 2,776,666 troy ounces of gold. I would rate this a significant find worthy of mention in your publication and yet I see none.
I would be interested in hearing your opinion on this company as I have invested in over 30 VSE companies in the past three years and none of t hem has come close to showing a cash flow from a property including Calpine, Gold Terrace, etc. Again thank you for the work you and your staff do. James Gerber Lansing, Mich.
It was with interest that I read your article in The NorthernMiner issue dated Aug 14, 1989, regarding Ontario Premier Peterson’s visit to Timmins, Ont., and his reply to a question posed to him about the take over of Falconbridge by Amax Inc. of New York:”While we cannot prevent the deal, we will scour’ the books to determine if such a possibility does exist.”
Would his reply have been better stated by reminding the party who posed the question that Mr. Campeau from Canada closed the largest ($6.6 billion) take over deal of a U.S. company in American history?
I feel it is about time Canadian politicians of all stripes quit buying votes at the expense of its largest trading partner (80% of all Canadian exports go to the U.S.) and get down to the business of trying to improve the living standards of all Canadians. Earl MacDougall North Bay, Ont.
