Until recently, cable bolting has been a time-consuming, labor- intensive and even dangerous operation. Now, with the introductio n of the Tamrock Cabolt H695 mechanized cable bolter, the process has become safer, more effective and more efficient. Fully mechanized for one-man operation, the Tamrock Cabolt is a self-contained unit, centre-articulated for extra maneouvrability. Among its components are a powerful HL 645 rock drill, providing a maximum hole depth of 40 m; hydraulic stabilizing jacks; mechanized and remote-controlled rod handling; steel strand reel for 900 m of cable; cement bag storage area; 250-kg-capacity mixing tank and pump; and high-pressure water system.
All functions (including drilling, grout feeding, strand feeding and cutting) are accurately measured and monitored. A single operator is able to control the whole operation in safety from beneath a steel canopy.
The Tamrock Cabolt has only recently been introduced into the Canadian market. There are 10 units in operation world-wide. — 30 —
