Significant gold intersections from an initial drilling program in the Macho-Rouleau area of northwestern Quebec have been reported by joint venture partners Beaufield Resources and Falconbridge Ltd.
Twenty-three holes have been drilled on widely separated targets on three of the four area properties included in the joint venture agreement. Two holes 2,600 ft apart have intersected a wide shear zone containing carbonate alteration. Hole No 87-17 intersected 0.19 oz gold per ton over 16.5 ft, including 0.42 oz over 4.9 ft, while hole No 87-18 cut 0.14 oz over 12.5 ft.
Falconbridge is recommending an additional work program costing a minimum $500,000. Two drills are currently exploring the new zone.
Meanwhile, Beaufield reports the acquisition, through staking, of a further 337 claims in the same area. These claims are subject to the joint-venture agreement with Falconbridge.
