A major drill program has been completed on a property held by Atlanta Gold in Idaho. The work involved 14,046 ft of reverse circulation drilling and 3,045 ft of diamond drilling which was designed to increase open pit reserves and test the main zone to depth.
Proven reserves have now increased to 1.1 million tons grading 0.07 oz gold with a significant reduction in stripping ratio. Deep exploratory holes have tested four sections of the higher grade eastern portion of the main zone. The most easterly hole intersected 60 ft of gold-bearing mineralization at 540 ft which averaged 0.12 oz gold per ton.
Metallurgical testing of surface and underground samples is under way at Hazen Research in Golden, Colo. Indeed, this work is virtually complete. Attempts to improve gold recoveries from metallurgically complex reserves indicate that gold values can be recovered in a low volume, high grade flotation concentrate. This could be economically processed to yield an 85% over- all recovery rate, Atlanta claims. The results are being used by Wright Engineers for an economic feasibility study.
