Letters to the Editor Exchanges available at CMH

I am a relatively new subscriber to The Northern Miner and I follow it with a fine-toothed comb, so to speak. I run more than 600 charts and mark in short coded form significant news on the companies.

After updating prices on Saturday, I use the prices and the short- form information to sort out the best investment opportunities. This system works very well and I have made thousands of dollars selecting this way.

I have a suggestion (which may or may not be economical for you) that would make a great improvement in your paper. Putting the company name in heavy black is an excellent idea and putting the exchanges where the company is listed right after in short form would make it even better. Example: Cons. TVX Mining Corp. (tse, vse, ase, mse, whatever) of Toronto. If it was a private company, maybe the exchange could be left out.

I find it very time-consuming trying to find the company in the paper and trying to figure out if I track it in my chants. I am always looking for new ones and often I can’t remember if I started a chart on it four weeks ago. It would be so much easier to just read the article, spot a new potential opportunity, grab a sheet of graph paper and mark the company name and exchanges on the top to start a new chart.

If it can be done I am sure other readers would love you for it as much as I would. John W. Bowles Markham, Ont. Editor’s Note: We do note the exchanges on some of our stories, but it would be impractical to do it on all of them. We suggest you purchase the latest edition of The Canadian Mines Handbook (just off the press) which lists all mines and the exchanges on which they are listed. It would give you a ready reference and a valuable source of additional information.
