A $250,000 exploration program is under way by Marker Resources on itst recently-acquired gold properties in the Flin Flon area of Manitoba, President Gordon Barron tells The Northern Miner.
The two properties, the Twin Lake and the Gold Button claims, total 25,000 contiguous acres and lie within the Flin Flon-Snow Lake greenstone belt. Marker has the right to earn a 100% undivided working interest in the 11,000-acre Twin Lake Group and a 50% working interest in the 14,000 acre Gold Button claims.
The current exploration program consists of mapping, prospecting and sampling. Detailed geophysical surveys and overburden sampling will also be conducted over all known showings with results of these program expected to determine targets for diamond drilling.
The properties are host to numerous gold and base metals occurrences, say Mr Barron. The most substantial is the Gold Button occurence which is uart vein cutting strongly altered, sericite schists. Three drill holes drilled in 1950 to a depth of 150 ft averaged a combined grade of 1.2 oz gold per ton over 5 ft.
