Wayside tables bonanza grades

The latest assay results from ongoing drilling by International Wayside Gold Mines (IWA-V) at its Bonanza Ledge discovery in north-central British Columbia have returned high-grade values over a strike length of 20 metres.

Hole 32 tested the downdip extension of mineralization cut in previously reported hole 3 (6.1 metres grading 6.2 grams gold per tonne and 7.5 metres grading 9.41 grams gold). It returned 7 metres grading 3.2 grams gold from 35.7 metres down-hole and an impressive 45.1 metres grading 11.2 grams gold from 60 metres down-hole. Included in this series of stacked mineralized zones are localized bonanza-grade lenses that returned up to 39.4 grams gold over 3.4 metres.

Moving 20 metres to the east and 20 metres to the north, holes 30 and 31 were drilled up-slope of the drill setup containing previously reported holes 23, 24 and 25. (Hole 24 cut six mineralized zones, including 2.3 metres grading 8.9 grams gold.)

Hole 30 cut 12.8 metres grading 9.1 grams gold from 48.8 metres down-hole and 20.4 metres grading 5.3 grams gold from 89.9 metres down-hole. Included in both intervals were several higher-grade sections ranging up to 18.5 grams gold over 2.9 metres in the first section and 17.7 grams gold over 2.3 metres in the second section.

Testing the downdip extension of this mineralization, hole 31 cut 24.6 metres grading 9.9 grams gold from 60.7 metres down-hole and 4.6 metres grading 2.3 grams gold from 100.6 metres down-hole. Included in the first interval were several higher-grade sections ranging up to 26.4 grams gold over 4.7 metres.

Mineralization at Bonanza Ledge (part of the company’s Cariboo gold property) is in the footwall of the BC vein structure, some 420 metres south of the previously mined BC shaft. Mineralization is associated with muscovite-pyrite alteration in dolomitic siltstone and mudstones with pyritic quartz bands.

To date, the higher-grade zones show structural complexities with continuity limited to tens of metres. So far, 36 holes have been drilled into the discovery. Assay results for 32 have been received.

From 1933 to 1959, the Cariboo Gold Quartz mine produced 626,755 oz. gold from 1.7 million tonnes grading 12.1 grams gold. The mine has 50 km of underground development on 13 levels. Nine mineralized zones are associated with the historical production, one of which is the BC vein.
