The British Geological Survey (BGS) has published its 22nd volume of World Mineral Statistics.
The statistics were compiled in 1994-1998 and cover most internationally traded mineral commodities.
“Many metals continued to show strong growth, as shown by the increased output of copper, nickel, zinc and silver,” the BGS report states.
Copper led the way, increasing by a remarkable 6% per annum over the past five years.
Meanwhile, gold production remained steady and diamond production increased.
