PRECIOUS METALS — Sirios cuts gold at Aquilon property

Drilling by Sirios Resources (SOI-M) at its Aquilon property in Quebec’s James Bay region has intersected gold mineralization at depth.

The property, situated 10 km from the Laforge-1 hydroelectric complex, is characterized by a gold-bearing, felsic-to-mafic metavolcanic belt.

Sirios’s drill campaign, carried out in March, consisted of 1,515 metres in 10 holes. Seven holes tested a 1.2-km-by-300-metre area defined by surface sampling and geophysical surveying, while three others tested a target 1 km away.

The drilling revealed two zones of gold mineralization, with gold being present in quartz veins within silicified, weakly sericitized and pyritized felsic volcanic rocks.

The best results were from hole 2, which intersected 7.5 metres (from 117 metres) grading 2 grams gold per tonnes in Zone 1 and

4.5 metres (from 152 metres) of 4.4 grams gold in Zone 2, and from hole 4, which cut 4.5 metres (from 28 metres) of 0.6 gram gold in Zone 1 and 9 metres (from 74 metres) of 1.9 grams gold in Zone 2.

“This is a new region that we’re in the process of discovering and really, we’re alone in this area,” says Sirios President Dominique Doucet. “Considering that this is the first-ever drilling here, we find the results very encouraging.”

Sirios is seeking more funds for exploration work, with the Aquilon project taking precedence over the junior’s other exploration ventures in the province.
