Electrical Supervisor
Among other responsibilities, you will coordinate the activities of electrical personnel in the installation and maintenance of power and control systems in a concentrator.
As the sought candidate, you are a graduate of Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology with a strong electrical background and five years’ supervisory experience. An understanding of PLC and ladder control systems, and high voltage distribution would be an asset.

You are comfortable using computerized systems. Ideally, you have acquired five years’ experience in a buying function in a mining or industrial environment and hold a C.P.P. certificate.

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER
Rio Tinto Technical Services is a unit of the Rio Tinto Technology Group. The role of Technical Services is to provide specialist skills, technical support and project assistance to Rio Tinto and its Business Units.
We are seeking an outstanding Geotechnial Engineer who will have at least 20 years experience in the practical application of geotechnical engineering. The successful applicant will be a registered professional engineer having had responsibility for a significant rock mechanics programme at an underground mine. Experience in the following areas would be highly desirable:
- Block caving an
d cavability studies. - Backfill stabilisation.
- Design of artificial underground support systems.
- Installation, monitoring and analysis of instrumentation for assessing stability of underground excavations.
- In situ measurement of stress and rock mass deformation.
- Numerical modelling of rock mass in response to mining.
Additional experience in surface excavations, tailings dams and rock dumps would be an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, or as an individual, you would provide specialist skills in the field of geotechnical engineering to Rio Tinto Head Office and to Business Units in all regions of the world. Activities will be centered on engineering design in both existing operations and new projects that will support Rio Tinto’s drive towards maximizing underground safety and production performance. You would be responsible for the provision of advice and assistance related to the stability of underground excavations. Work will also include the geotechnical aspects of surface operations, tailings dams and rock dumps.
