Sirios active near James Bay

Montreal-based Sirios Resources (SOI-M) has kicked off several summer exploration programs in northwestern Quebec.

At the Aquilon project, near James Bay in northwestern Quebec, the junior is endeavoring to locate gold, copper and zinc deposits by means of prospecting, stripping and till-sampling.

Last autumn, geochemical sampling revealed several new gold showings. Values of up to 23.4 grams gold per tonne were found in samples taken from a 2-sq.-km portion of a felsic volcanic unit that crosses the 51-sq.-km property.

The showings occur in altered felsic intrusives in which gold is associated with disseminated sulphides in quartz veins and stockworks.

Meanwhile, a geological survey is under way at the Monique property, north of Chibougamau, Que., where ground geophysics confirmed the presence of conductors coincident with favorable geology.

Previously, diamond drilling on the property returned 6.7% zinc, 0.7% copper and 15.9% silver over 9.8 metres, as well as 2.6% zinc, 0.8% copper and 17.2 grams silver over 14.9 metres.

Sirios reports that a third team is carrying out regional prospecting on new geological targets in the James Bay area, and that similar work is planned for the Escale, Tilly and Chalonneau properties.

The company holds 15 properties, nine of which are in the Grande River area.
