THE GLOBAL SEARCH FOR GOLD SPECIAL — Ascot completes work program in W. Africa

Assay results have been received for Ascot Resources’ (AOT-V) latest drill program on the Koupela permit in Burkino Faso.

Drilling on the wholly owned property, 80 km southeast of Ouagadougou, focused on an area of artisanal gold mining. Previous soil and trenching surveys defined a 250-by-1,000-metre gold zone, and the best results exposed 14 metres of 2.21 grams gold per tonne in trench 96-4.

Twenty-one reverse-circulation holes were completed on the property. Hole 6 was drilled under trench 96-4, and intersected 16 metres of 1.18 grams. Other results include: 4 metres of 2.67 grams in hole 2; 2 metres of 3.68 grams in hole 9; 8 metres of 1.74 grams in hole 14; and 2 metres of 7.18 grams in hole 15.

Using a 0.5-gram cutoff, the company has outlined a zone of discontinuous gold mineralization with values of up to 1.5 grams. The zone is found over an average width of 150 metres, and has been traced for 600 metres along strike within an altered gneiss.

The company believes the area merits further work, based on the strongly anomalous gold values intersected to date.
