NEVADA SPECIAL — Companies eye Tonopah potential

Mining companies are paying increased attention to Nevada’s historic mining camps, including the Tonopah Divide district in northeastern Esmeralda County. The region has been the focus of exploration and mining activity from 1902 to the present.

Miocene-aged, volcanic-hosted, epithermal precious metals deposits of the adularia-sericite subtype underlie both Gold Mountain, a prominent geological feature of the same name, and Hasbrouck Mountain, 1.2 km to the west.

Cumulative production from the district is 3.7 million oz. silver and 36,000 oz. gold.
