Sullivan wins mine rescue competition

Thirteen teams competed in the 1995 International Western Regional mine rescue competition, held recently in Fernie, B.C.

The Cominco Sullivan team was the overall winner in the underground events, while the Obed Mountain coal team from Alberta took the surface events title.

The mine rescue team had to respond to simulated mine disasters, which involved transporting accident victims to safety across numerous obstacles, as well as rescuing people from burning areas.
