A second phase of drilling will start on the Kubi concession, which is adjacent to, and on strike with, the Ashanti gold mine in central Ghana.
Nevsun Resources (VSE), which holds a 90% interest, will test the Main zone by drilling a minimum of 6,000 metres.
The first phase, completed earlier this year, tested the zone over a strike length of 700 metres down to a maximum vertical depth of 300 metres. Results included a 4.1-metre intersection in hole 2 grading 10.12 grams gold per tonne; a 14.9-metre intersection grading 8.5 grams gold in hole 3; and a 6.5-metre intersection in hole 5 grading 13.55 grams gold.
The second phase will evaluate the reserve potential of the zone and include further drilling on strike, as well as to depths of to 800 metres. Drilling will also test two large, geochemical anomalies.
