Aussies investigate Peru’s geology (September 04, 1995)

Australian Photogeological Consultants is aiming to complete Landsat (satellite) mapping from Patagonia to Ecuador within the next two years.

Most recently, the firm completed a multiclient study carried out on 500,000 sq. km. in southern Peru.

The Landsat project is aimed at providing an overview perspective which helps exploration companies assess mineral potential by enabling the recognition of previously unknown regional lithostructural elements.

This year the firm completed, for a group of companies, a 1-million-sq.-km study in northern Chile and adjacent areas in Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. The digitial maps are currently being produced in conjunction with the Australian Geological Survey’s cartographic services unit.

Information is available from the company at P.O. Box 818, Dickson, Australian Capital Territory, 2602, Australia.
