Cancor sniffs base metals at Bonfortel

Five drill holes BY Cancor Mines (KCR-T) at the Bonfortel property near Joutel, Que., have intersected disseminated sulphide mineralization.

The drill holes tested geophysical anomalies detected in magnetic, gravity and electromagnetic surveys earlier this year, including a three-hole pattern drilled on the Fourth Corner prospect, previously drilled by Aur Resources (AUR-T).

Those three holes were drilled to intersect a rhyolite-andesite contact on which Aur had intersected massive sulphide mineralization with grades up to 7.68% zinc. Cancor’s holes tested the southwest extension of the zone found by Aur, with one cutting a 6-metre interval with disseminated pyrite and sphalerite that graded 1.14% zinc and 2.7 grams silver per tonne.

Another hole tested the southeast extension of mineralization at Mines Poirier, about 1.5 km northwest of the property. Pyrite and sphalerite-mineralized volcanic rocks with chlorite alteration graded 2.36% zinc over 1.4 metres. The intersection was at 1,126 metres downhole.

A hole testing a gravity anomaly in the northern part of the property intersected altered rocks with up to 0.2% copper and 0.1% zinc over intervals of about a metre.
