The latest round of drilling by equal partners RJK Explorations (RJX.a-V) and GLR Resource (GRS-T) on their Stares property, about 50 km west of Thunder Bay, Ont., has come up dry.
The program included 9 holes totalling 1,014 metres.
Seven of the holes, tested several coincident induced polarization highs, resistivity lows and magnetic highs between the northern limit of a known mineralized float train and a previously intersected zone of shallow base metal sulphide mineralization. The holes failed to cut any anomalous base or precious metals.
Two short reconnaissance holes drilled further south returned granite.
Late last year, two holes on the shallow zone returned up to 2.6-metres running 11.8% zinc, 0.05% lead, 0.03% copper, 109 grams silver and 3.2 grams gold per tonne, at about 30 metres vertical depth.
The program included extensive enzyme leach geochemical sampling and geological mapping.
A total of 556 new geochemical samples have brought to 30 the number of significant geochemical anomalies outlined in a 2.5-by-3.1-km area. Most have yet to be drilled. Follow-up drilling is planned.
