TSX Venture Exchange (February 25, 2008)

On level gold and base metal prices, the S&P-TSX Venture Composite Index posted a 43.46- point gain over the holiday-shortened Feb. 12- 15 trading session to close at 2,584.99. Average daily trading volumes retracted over the week, to 65 million shares.

Bears overwhelmed bulls roughly 10 to one on the trading period, with just a dozen junior explorers touching new 52-week share price highs while 119 dipped to new annual lows.

On news of a wide gold intercept from its Fayolle project, near Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Typhoon Exploration posted the highest trading volume for the week — closing up 2.5 at 14 per share on 21.6 million shares traded. Drill hole FA-07-24 cut a pair of mineralized zones: one of 12 metres grading 13.6 grams gold per tonne, followed by a deeper zone of 40 metres at 4.3 grams gold.

With platinum prices soaring north of US$2,000 per oz. due to South African supply disruptions, Beartooth Platinum inched up 2.5 to 14.5 per share on trading volume of more than 12.3 million shares. The company continues to explore its flagship Stillwater project in Montana.

Shares of Brazilian-focused diamond hunter Iciena Ventures gained more than 100% on the week, closing up 5.5 at 10.5 apiece on trading volume of almost 11.4 million. The company is acquiring 80% of the Botavi project, in Minas Gerais state, for 10 million shares and a $2-million work commitment over two years.

Bolero Resources saw 10.3 million shares change hands over the session, closing up 4 at 26. Resource estimates for its Cannivan Gulch molybdenum property in Montana reviewed 161 million indicated tonnes of 0.06% molybdenum plus 133 million inferred tonnes at the same grade.

Orex Exploration posted trading volume of 10.2 million shares on the week, closing down half a penny at 10 per share. The company recently started drilling at its Goldboro gold project in Nova Scotia.

Northern Territory has cut up to 7.1 metres grading 0.41% U3O8, 0.44% cobalt, 0.44% copper and 0.24% nickel in a poly-metallic vein structure.

Drill results of 251 metres grading 0.15% copper from Condor Resources’ Ocros porphyry project, north of Lima, Peru, fell short of investor expectations. The stock fell 33% over the week, or 37, to close at 75 per share.

up 37 at $5.62 per share on trading volume of 2.9 million shares. Recent metallurgical testing at its namesake gold project, located south of Kenora, Ont., showed recoveries of up to 94% for gold from drill core composite samples. Additionally, drilling on the 433 zone returned high-grade intercepts of up to 27.8 metres grading 5.7 grams gold, including 1 metre of 4,158 grams gold. A resource estimate for the project is expected soon.
