Zappa gears for Enriquez drilling

Drilling is set to begin on the Ponce Enriquez gold project in Ecuador.

Owner Zappa Resources (VSE) identified three large gold zones during a 9-month-long program of geochemical and geophysical surveys, geologic mapping and bulldozer trenching.

The drilling will begin on the Guadalupe, a 1,500-by-300-metre zone that returned trenching values of up to 1.81 grams gold per ton over 52 metres. An initial 14-hole program is planned to test the zone to a depth of 200 metres. Trenching is planned on the Papa Grande-Junction zone prior to beginning a 2,000-metre drilling program to follow up bedrock sampling values of 5.29 grams over 16 metres and 2.8 grams over 20 metres.

Drilling on the Mollopongo zone is contingent on the completion of road construction, as well as on results from the Guadalupe and Papa Grande zones.
