Ymir reunion set for summer

Residents, past and present, of Ymir, in south eastern British Columbia, are invited to a town reunion scheduled for Aug. 1-2.

Situated south of Nelson, the town was founded in 1897 and named after Ymir Mountain, in the Nelson Range. In the mid-1880s, geologist George Dawson had named a group of mountains Ymir Range, after the legendary Norse father of the giants, but the name survived in the single mountain only.

To register for the reunion, contact: Lorraine McGregor, Mountain Station G.B. 6, Nelson, B.C. V1L 2J3. Fax: (250) 354-4067. Alternative contact: Robert Kosinic, 1324 Hendryx St., Nelson, B.C. V1L 2B5.
