Windflower extends zone on B.C. Goldfinch prospect

Drilling has extended the high grade East zone at Windflower Mining’s Goldfinch property near Revelstoke, B.C. The property falls under an option agreement with Granges Exploration, the operator for the program.

Hole No 93 returned 4.9 ft of 1.48 oz gold in the East zone. This zone is parallel to, but separate from, the main sulphide-rich Dorothy vein where drilling has largely been concentrated to date. The new zone is characterized by vein quartz commonly bearing free gold with generally high grades and the arithmetical average of the seven drill holes is 0.91 oz gold over an average width of 6.5 ft.

According to Gerald Ryznar, Windflower’s president, the zone was actually encountered by accident last year. They were drilling into the main zone and hit the structure while doing so. The East zone has been extended 196 ft south of drill hole No 42 which was completed in 1986 and returned values of 0.94 oz gold across a 25-ft interval. He notes that seven holes have now intersected the zone which appears to have a strike length of at least 328 ft. “Further drill testing may well extend this strike length considerably,” he predicts.

Drilling is under way on the extreme south end of the Main zone where hole No 94 returned 2.5 ft of 0.28 oz gold and 7.0 ft of 0.45 oz. Mr Ryznar says this hole is almost 1,000 ft south of No 93. Granges and Windflower are discussing an underground exploration and development program with local contractors. An old mine tunnel exists on the property which would probably be slashed out and extended, he says. This would allow close-spaced drilling from the underground to firm up reserves for a production decision.
