A 5-hole, 2,600-ft. drill program was recently completed by Williams Creek Explorations (VSE) on its wholly owned crown-granted Westport claims in the historic Wells-Barkerville gold camp in central British Columbia.
The drilling was designed to test the Blackjack adit area which had previously produced 200 tons yielding 0.85 oz. recovered gold per ton. The only previous drilling in this area was completed in 1947.
Hole 1 in the recent drill program returned 9.5 ft. averaging 0.45 oz. gold per ton from 59.5-69 ft., while hole 2 returned a 13-ft. intersection averaging 0.25 oz. gold from 424-437 ft.
Hole 4 returned 6.8 ft. of 0.97 oz. gold, and 5 ft. of 0.74 oz. gold. No assays were cut, and no estimates of true width were made.
The veins and zones encountered in drilling are considered typical of orthogonal type veins found in the adjoining and formerly producing Cariboo Gold Quartz and Island Mountain mines.
Duane Poliquin, president, said the property has other known zones that warrant drilling, as well as several untested geochemical and geophysical anomalies.
