Wheaton to drill Chieftain Hill

Having just completed its first public offering, Wheaton River Minerals (TSE) is getting ready to explore its 104-sq.-km property near Whitehorse, Yukon.

Deep drilling is scheduled to commence immediately on the Chieftain Hill prospect in the southeast corner of the claim group. Previous shallow drilling on the property intersected a 1,500-metre mineralized structure known as the Ocean vein.

“It is a high-priority target in spite of uneconomic drill intersections because drilling has confirmed the width and continuity of the structure but has not tested the entire strike length or dip extension to elevations (800 metres) coincident with ore-grade mineralization on the Goddell Gulley property,” Wheaton says in its prospectus.

Wheaton recently purchased the Mount Skukum area property, including the former mine and mill, from Total Energold (TSE) and AGIP Resources..
