Dresser Industries (Libertyville, Ill.) has introduced a new crawler-dozer which has a number of unique features.
The TD-15E, as it is called, is the first in the 130-190-hp class to have optional 2-speed steering. Previously this was available only on larger (up to 460 h p) machines.
Two-speed steering allows the operator to increase production by putting full power to both tracks at all times, whether he’s dozing straight, turning with a full bladeload or working a sideslope.
The TD-15E weighs 17,175 kg, carries a 4.28-cu-m, semi-U blade and is driven b y a 123-kw, diesel engine.
The dozer’s new, modular design makes it easy to maintain. The engine, torque converter, transmission, steering drive and final drive can all be removed, work ed on and replaced without disturbing any of the adjacent power-train modules.
