Conspec Controls (Buffalo, N.Y.) is marketing a computerized mine management system capable of scheduling mine equipment maintenance and monitoring various environmental factors such as over- and under- ventilated areas, carbon dioxide levels in coal mines and much more. Called the centurion, the unit features an accessor device which provides the communication link between the computer and sensors in the field. Models for both large mine and small mine applications are available. The company’s new software package, called Polymaint, schedules preventive maintenance operations, performs parts inventory control, issues and tracks work requests and automatically prints purchase orders when the stock reaches a preset low level. It also generates reports on preventive maintenance and repair correlation, personnel activity, cost analysis and equipment statistics of above and below ground operatons. The program runs on the IBM-PC.
