Two new hydraulic excavators, with increased power ratings and lift capacities have been introduced by Caterpillar to replace two older models. Powered by an 86-kW engine, the 215c lc excavator replaces the former 215b. The 219, which is powered by a 97-kW engine, replaces the 215b sa excavator. Larger-diameter hydraulic cylinders, higher hydraulic system pressures, and heavier counterweights on both new models provide about 12% more lift capacity over the old models.
Bucket breakout force has increased to 23,430 lb. An automatic engine speed control is an optional fuel- saving feature offered on both new machines.
