A compact, lightweight and economical surveying instrument capable of angle and distance measurement has been introduced by Nikon, of Garden City, N.Y. The instrument can calculate co- ordinates and transmit data via simple keyboard operation.
Features include: accurate and easy-to-read digital readout of vertical or horizontal angles down to five seconds; a convenient station co-ordinate and horizontal angle override function; remote elevation measurement; remote distance measurement up to 7,600 ft; automatic slope reduction; automatic xyz-co-ordinate calculation; and a display and keyboard on both sides of the alidade for operator comfort.
