Vehicle Systems Corp. (Bothell, Wash.) is marketing an on-board monitoring system for off-highway trucks. Designed to reduce maintenance costs, the system consists of an in-the- cab display box, a small electronics box and a series of sensors developed in-house by the company. The sensors are connected to the electronic box by special cables of a preprietary design. They are designed to be waterproof and to avoid electronic interference.
The system monitors such things as oil levels, cooling levels, pressures, engine rpm, temperatures and pressures.
Maintenance personnel gain access to the information by using security keys. Only information that requires emergency action is displayed to the machine operator.
