Ore Sorters of Lakewood, Colo., and Orevco Inc. of Peterborough, Ont., have commissioned a mobile, computerized ore-sorter that can be used to pre-concentrate gold ores and dump material. The new unit combines a photometric sorter and a conductivity sorter to capture gold associated with both quartz and sulphides.
Concentrates from the unit are processed using conventional cyanide leaching techniques.
Ore Sorters has also delivered its first linear screen in Canada. The new type of screen, which works without vibrations, is used to remove wood chips and fibres in various gold processing streams.
About 100 such screens, manufactured by Ore Sorters under licence f rom Delkor Technik Pty, have been installed in South Africa and Australia in the past two years. Wood chips can reduce the recovery rates by adsorbing gold particles.
