A new, pocket-size, full-featured electronic blaster’s guide is now available from Du Pont Canada’s Applied Technology & Blasting Services group. It is a programmable 16K computer that contains nine specific blasting- related programs and 65 scientific functions.
One blasting program, for example, determines the blasting area, number of blastholes required for either rectangular or staggered patterns, up to three free faces, powder factors, column rises, explosive load per blasthole, total load, cost per loaded blasthole, cost per cu yd and total cost per blast.
Another program gives rock mechanics properties for 25 different rock types with varying degrees of hardness. The unit can be used for various chaining operations and can communicate with a printer or tape recorder.
Programs can be tailored to meet user needs.
