WHAT’S NEW A first for linear screens

A linear screen, manufactured by Ore Sorters (North America) of Colorado, has been installed in a Newmont gold mine in the U.S. The Newmont plant is the first on this continent to use the screen, according to Ore Sorters. The unit will replace several conventional vibratory screens.

The linear screen provides substantially improved removal of wood particles, which are collected on a continuously moving screen cloth, the company says. This cloth is washed at the oversize discharge section. Even when overloaded with oversize mineral particles, the cloth is clean when it returns to the screening section.

The screen can be used in various places in a gold plant flow sheet to eliminate problems with wood, coarse grit, coal ash and organic matter in the feed to carbon-in-pulp circuits.
