In southeastern Yukon, drilling has extended the Wolverine and the newly discovered Lynx deposits over an area measuring 700 metres long.
The joint-venture project is split 60-40 by Westmin Resources (WMI-T) and Atna Resources (ATN-T), respectively.
At the beginning of this year’s program, the Wolverine was partially defined by 15 holes over a strike length of 250 metres and a downdip length of 400 metres. A preliminary resource was calculated at just over 3 million tonnes grading 1.87 grams gold and 350.2 grams silver, plus 12.99% zinc, 1.27% copper and 1.43% lead.
Forty-nine holes now define at least two massive sulphide deposits, with the Lynx lens still open to the west, north and south.
Hole 95-3, which was collared approximately 250 metres west of the existing boundary, failed to pull any ore-grade numbers. Nevertheless, the hole did hit the right stratigraphy and cut 9 metres of anomalous argillite.
A new resource for the Wolverine deposit, including the Lynx zone, is expected to be announced in November.
The partners recently reported results for a further six holes drilled on the Lynx zone. On the western boundary, along section 16+250E, hole 96-71 was drilled midway between previously reported holes 62 and 64, and encountered 1.8 metres true width grading 0.77 gram gold and 325 grams silver per tonne, plus 3.14% zinc, 7.68% copper and 0.8% lead.
Hole 62 hit a true thickness of 9.1 metres grading 1.3 grams gold and 370 grams silver, plus 9.4% zinc, 1.28% copper and 2.15% lead about 75 metres updip of hole 71, whereas hole 64 intersected two separate massive sulphide zones a further 75 metres downdip of hole 71. The first zone yielded 2.1 metres (true thickness) grading 1.35 grams gold and 317 grams silver, plus 3.06% zinc, 0.14% copper and 2.54% lead, while the second returned 4.1 metres (true width) of 0.95 gram gold and 399 grams silver, plus 11.19% zinc, 9.82% copper and 0.78% lead.
Hole 66 was drilled 120 metres updip of previously reported hole 60 on section 16+300E and intersected a true thickness of 4.8 metres grading 4.16 grams gold and 677 grams silver, plus 12.88% zinc, 2.08% copper and 2.95% lead.
Hole 67 stepped out a further 70 metres updip of hole 66 and hit a true width of 10.3 metres grading 2.45 grams gold and 364 grams silver, plus 7.41% zinc, 0.45% copper and 1.47% lead.
On section 16+350E, hole 96-72 intersected 4.1-metre and 2.8-metre (true width) intervals separated by 8.2 metres of argillite.
The upper 4.1 metres averaged 1.45 grams gold and 319 grams silver, as well as 9.89% zinc, 1.09% copper and 1.65% lead. The lower 2.8 metres yielded a grade of 1.67 grams gold and 435 grams silver, plus 25.35% zinc, 0.45% copper and 1.54% lead.
Hole 69 further tested the downdip along section 16+350E, intersecting 4.2 metres (true width) grading 1.42 grams gold and 383 grams silver, plus 11.23% zinc, 0.95% copper and 1.52% lead, about 115 metres downdip of previously reported hole 61. Stepping out 50 metres east of hole 63 on section 16+400E, two massive sulphide intervals, separated by 9.2 metres of barren argillite, were intersected by hole 68.
An upper 3.6-metre true width interval averaged 1.24 grams gold and 197 grams silver, plus 10% zinc, 0.93% copper and 1.58% lead. The lower interval of 8.2 metres (true thickness) averaged 1.24 grams gold and 284 grams silver, as well as 7.27% zinc, 0.52% copper and 1.85% lead.
