Westmin decides to mine Gap zone at Myra Falls

Management of Westmin Resources (TSE) recently decided to start development access of the Gap zone from the 18 level in the H-W mine at its Myra Falls mining operation near Campbell River, B.C.

The Gap zone discovery was made earlier this year while drilling in a previously untested area. Drilling returned a number of high-grade massive sulphide intersections well above the grades of ore currently being mined at the two underground mines which comprise the Myra Falls operation. The access drift to reach the new zone has already been laid out, and Westmin reports that development crews have already started work.

In the meantime, exploration is continuing. Drilling on section 12+60E is now complete, with no further significant ore intersections reported. Drilling is continuing on other sections to further test the discovery zone area.
