Additional drill results have been released by partners Westfield Minerals, The Coniagas Mines and Anglo Dominion Gold Exploration from their Little River property in Newfoundland.
Westfield, which holds a 50% interest and is the project operator, was following up encouraging surface sampling results, received last year, which yielded lower grading gold values from a zone striking for more than two miles.
The 2,375-ft drill program, which tested the zone to shallow depths above 100 ft, intersected the mineralized zone across widths ranging from 2.0 ft to 14 ft. The highest gold value was 0.19 oz per ton from a 6.6-ft section. A majority of the values hovered around 0.1 oz.
The partners note that the drilling has only tested a small portion of the large property, which protects a strike length of more than 30 mil. Coniagas and Anglo each have a 25% interest in the project. A $750,000 exploration program is planned for this year.
In the Pickle Lake area, Ont., Westfield (54%) and partners Northern Dynasty Explorations (32%) and Newfields Minerals (14%) have completed a drill program on their Arseno Lake property.
The partners drilled a portion of a 12,000-ft long geophysical conductor associated with zinc, lead, silver and gold mineralization. One of the best holes was 87-2 which cut a 7-ft section grading 5.8% zinc, 0.67% lead 1.34 oz silver and 0.09 oz gold. Included in the hole was a narrower section of 1.4 ft grading 15.4% zinc, 1.3% lead 1.4 oz silver and 0.42 oz gold.
A follow-up 10,000-ft drill program is scheduled to start this June.
