The wedging of a previously drilled hole on the Douay gold property in the Casa Berardi area of Quebec resulted in the intersection of a known mineralized zone, Societe d’Exploration Miniere Vior (ME) reports.
The existing hole, No. 70531, was wedged an additional 300 ft. and the zone was intersected 180 ft. to the east. The new core from hole 70531-2 (as the wedged section is called), returned 23.7 ft. of 0.35 oz. gold per ton and 40 ft. of 0.1 oz., including 20 ft. of 0.15 oz. and 10 ft. of 0.21 oz. Vior said two other holes, one drilled 250 ft. above 70531 and the second 400 ft. to the west, did not intersect the mineralized zone which appears to be cut off to the west by a gabbroic intrusive.
Thirty-seven holes totalling 39,356 ft. were drilled during January and February in an area between the project’s previously drilled Main and West zones. Two other mineralized zones have been identified in the same area of the property.
Vior said a follow-up program representing about 15,000 ft. is planned for this month and April. To finance this work, a $450,000 issue is being negotiated. Vior said Inco (TSE) may subscribe for about 35% of the offering; Inco is Vior’s major shareholder.
