Pelangio Mines (PLG-V) continues to cut high-grade gold at its Detour Lake property, 160 km northeast of Timmins, Ont.
The latest drilling is highlighted by hole 54, which cut 3 metres grading 7.26 grams gold per tonne. This included a 1-metre intercept, which graded 17.63 grams gold per tonne.
Hole 55 cut two 0.5-metre-wide intercepts containing visible gold. These graded 230 grams gold and 39 grams gold per tonne. In addition a 1-metre intersection graded 3 grams gold per tonne.
Two other holes contained visible gold, but the highest grade in these holes was 6.9 grams gold over 0.7 metre.
Drilling targeted an east-trending induced polarization anomaly along its 1.1-km length. Holes were drilled at 200-metre-spacing and to a vertical depth of about 100 metres.
The hole drilled on the western end of the anomaly, hole 58A, cut 1 metre grading 3 grams gold at a depth of 129 metres down hole, followed three metres farther down hole by 17 metres grading 1.1 grams gold per tonne.
The induced polarization anomaly is in the footwall of the M zone stratigraphy.
Pelangio has a 100% interest in the Detour Lake property, which covers the past-producing Detour Lake mine. Trade Winds Ventures (TWD-V) is earning a half-interest in the 11.7-sq.-km Detour Lake Block A property, which is contiguous with the Detour Lake property and just three km west of the mine.
Four holes were recently drilled by Trade Winds into a structure at depth, west of the M zone. All holes intersected visible gold.
Hole 41 cut 9.7 metres grading 20.9 grams gold per tonne. Included in this intersection was a 0.3-metre intercept grading 652 grams gold per tonne and a 1-metre intercept grading 5.3 grams gold.
Farther down hole in hole 41 gold was again seen in a 1.5-metre intercept, which graded 17.2 grams gold per tonne.
Other holes graded from 10.9-79.9 grams gold per tonne over widths of 0.4-1.6 metres in areas where gold was seen.
These holes tested the up-plunge projection of the zone and were drilled at 40-metre spacing on adjacent sections 20-metres apart.
Drilling is on-going. Trade Winds plans to drill the M zone structure along 80-metre sections over a 1-km by 300-metre area in order to delineate a near-surface resource. In addition holes will test the North Walter Lake zone, which was found by Pelangio on ground immediately east of the Detour Lake Block A property.
In recent drilling at North Walter Lake Pelangio cut intervals which graded as high as 34.6 grams gold per tonne over 0.5 metre.
Two other holes cut 2-5.7 grams gold over 2-7 metres.
Gold mineralization has been cut over a 240-metre strike length.
Pelangio is also drilling some holes to confirm resources immediately west of the Detour mine open pit. This is part of an on-going scoping study. Infill drilling will define the resource in this area, which previously was drilled at 50-100-metre spacing.
