Partners Virginia Gold Mines (ME) and Explorations Diabor (ME) have staked 92 claims in the Eastmain volcanic belt of northwestern Quebec.
An area containing geochemical anomalies and gold showings has been identiified on the 342-sq.-km land package. (In 1936, Dome Mines drilled one of the showings and hit 13.8 metres which averaged 1.32 grams gold per tonne.) Recent sampling on the joint venture’s Eastmain and Auclair properties has confirmed the presence of several gold-bearing zones associated with a sheared diorite intrusive. Elsewhere on the properties, several mineralized intrusives and sheared iron formations have been identified. Meanwhile, on the 136-sq.-km La Grande property in Quebec, Diabor and Garde Societe d’Exploration Miniere (ME) are completing airborne and ground-based geophysical surveys. By the beginning of February, the companies plan to drill the best targets.
Diabor has completed seven private placements with investors, enabling the company to raise $395,000.
