The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) calls on the federal government to extend the Mineral Exploration Tax Credit. This indispensable financial tool was set to expire on March 31, reducing explorers’ access to cash, the association’s president Raymond Goldie says.
The tax incentive’s significance in financing mineral exploration in Canada cannot be understated, says Goldie, underlining the PDAC’s advocacy for its reinstatement when the Liberal government tables its 2024 budget on April 16.
“Our top priority is to urge the government to renew the mineral exploration tax credit,” he told The Northern Miner’s western editor, Henry Lazenby, in Toronto. “It has been such a great tool in financing mineral exploration in Canada and is needed to support the industry’s growth and sustainability.”
Goldie also addressed the importance of access to land and skilled personnel as top advocacy issues, and the conversation touched on broader industry trends.
