Production at a graphite deposit near Portland in southeastern Ontario is scheduled to begin during the first half of this year, Victoria Graphite (COATS) reports.
The company recently completed a drilling and trenching program. A total of 295,000 tonnes (all categories) grading 6% graphitic carbon has been delineated to a depth of 20 metres in the D and I zones.
The company says these reserves will provide feed for commercial mining at a rate of 100 tonnes per day for 10 years.
Drilling of the same two zones to 50 metres is planned. The company says a consulting firm calculated last year a reserve potential of 1.6 million tonnes to 150 metres.
An existing mill has been refurbished and is being equipped with processing equipment, the company says.
