Ventures hits high grade — Trenching program returns base metals on Eva property

At its Chicken Mountain prospect in west-central Alaska, Ventures Resource (vrs-v) has intercepted high-grade gold values.

Diamond drilling at the project, which forms a portion of the so-called Flat properties, encountered a 70-ft. interval grading 0.416 oz. gold per ton from hole 16, including a 4.5-ft. interval grading 6.2 oz. gold. The angle hole encountered the mineralization at a depth of 100 ft.

“These are the highest gold values obtained on the Chicken Mountain project to date, ” said Ventures President Greg Sheardown.

The drilling tested only a portion of a gold anomaly that measures 12,000 by 2,000 ft. Significant mineralization was reported in all of seven holes. More results from other holes will be released before year-end.

Additional highlights from drilling include:

* 15 ft. grading 0.055 oz. gold and 20 ft. of 0.051 oz. in hole 17; * 37 ft. of 0.029 oz. in hole 19; and

* 65 ft. of 0.033 oz. in hole 21.

Ventures also released the results of trenching carried out across gold-bearing structures. One trench encountered 55 ft. grading 0.038 oz. gold per ton, while another hit 90 ft. grading 0.193 oz., including 5 ft. of 2.89 oz.

Meanwhile, the junior has received encouraging base metal values from trenching performed on a 1,800-ft. vein at its Eva project in southeastern Alaska. A sample from an 18-ft. trench carried 19.4 oz. silver per ton, 28.7% lead and 9.4% zinc. Additional grab samples returned high-grade polymetallic values.
