A drill program at the Fuller property of Vedron Gold (VDGI-C), just east of Timmins, Ont., has extended the indicated mineralization to the property’s eastern boundary.
Twenty-three holes were drilled during the program, which started last August, and all the holes intersected some gold mineralization along the eastern limb of a fold that extends toward the Paymaster mine, now held by Placer Dome (PDG-T). The holes investigated the area between the deepest workings of the Fuller mine (around 650 ft.) and a development drift of the Buffalo Ankerite mine (at 1,550 ft.).
The most persistent, and usually the widest, of the mineralized horizons, the Contact zone, showed mineralization with grades typically at 0.1 oz. per ton or slightly higher, over core lengths of 2.6-25.6 ft.
Other zones revealed grades comparable to those encountered at the Contact zone. Typical intersection lengths ranged from 3.8 to 18 ft. Several intersections with lower-grade mineralization (mainly 0.04-0.07 oz. gold per ton) cannot be easily correlated to any known zone but have been encountered over core lengths of 2-10 ft. Mined grades at both Fuller and Buffalo Ankerite tended to be higher than predicted.
Vedron is now embarking on a second drill campaign, along the western limb of the same fold, and, by April, expects to have calculated a preliminary estimate of the mineral resource. Induced-polarization surveys, supplemented by air photo interpretation, have identified other targets north of the Fuller decline.
