Vauquelin increases West block reserves

Probable reserves of 140,000 tons grading 0.18 oz gold per ton and possible reserves of 260,000 tons grading 0.19 oz have been reported by Vauquelin Mines from the West block of the company’s property located near Val d’Or, Que.

The reserve figures were calculated by the mines and geology division of Roche Ltd. following Vauquelin’s 1987 drilling campaign. Prior to that drilling, Roche estimated possible reserves of 53,000 tons grading 0.27 oz.

Vauquelin says the gold structure is well defined within the volcanics along more than 2,000 ft and is open at depth. Deep hole W-87-19 returned 0.2 oz across 13.5 ft, while another deep hole, W-87-20, cut 0.38 oz across 12.5 ft.

Roche is still calculating reserve estimates for the property’s Norbeau block.
