Valerie to drill Tajos de Oro project

Limited drilling is planned for Tajos de Oro, a gold-silver property near Nayarit, Mexico, under investigation by Valerie Gold Resources (VLG-V).

As part of a first-phase due-diligence program, Valerie recently completed preliminary mapping and channel sampling of old underground workings developed within a possible breccia pipe.

Some 83 channel samples, totalling 132 metres, were collected from a 35-metre-wide stope. They returned an average of 3.9 grams gold and 75.9 grams silver per tonne. The mineralization sampled in the stope remains open in all directions.

Based on surface and underground mapping, the property is reported to be underlain by a rhyolitic-to-dacitic pyroclastic sequence within minor interbedded andesitic tuffs and flows. The breccia pipe is intensely silicified with a zone of quartz veining and stockwork developed around it. Alteration is also associated with the mineralization.

The drill program is aimed at confirming the grade and dimensions of the Tajos de Oro breccia pipe at depth. The surface exposure has been traced over an area measuring 140 by 50 metres.

Valerie is also active in Ecuador, where it is exploring the Santa Barbara property. The junior can earn a half-interest in the project from TVX-Normandy Americas, the remainder of which is owned jointly by TVX Gold (TVX-T) and Normandy Mining (NDY-T).

A recently completed second-phase drill program attempted to define the geometry of the SB gold-copper zone and explore the El Hito copper and Nayumbi gold geochemical targets.

To date, 17 holes have tested the large SB gold-copper anomaly, including seven in the recent 14-hole program. Drilling has identified two styles of mineralization: structurally controlled, quartz-flooded stockwork-associated mineralization; and pervasive disseminated sulphide-associated gold mineralization.

The best intersection came from hole SB-16, which returned 215 metres of 1.05 grams gold and 0.1% copper. Other results include 104 metres of 0.73 gram gold and 44 metres of 1.32 grams gold.

Four holes drilled at El Hito to test geochemical targets confirmed the presence of porphyry-style copper mineralization. Copper grades ranged up to 1.2% but averaged 0.3% over the four holes. The Nayumbi geochemical target remains unexplained, as drilling there did not intersect mineralization of economic interest.

The Santa Barbara property is 425 km south of the capital city of Quito and 80 km east of Loja.
